Monthly Favourites | August 2014

So it's that transition time of the year, where Summer is winding down and Autumn is coming round. Which means it's that time again to share with you some of my favourite things I have been loving in the month of August!

TV Series

Firstly I wanted to mention TV Series's because I'll be honest, the only TV I really watch is on BBC Three as they show some cool content! I like to watch series's, whether that be on YouTube or wherever. So the TV Series I am currently loving at the moment is of course on BBC Three and that's 'Cuckoo'. I really loved the first season and was excited for it to be back on screen. However I must admit, it has taken a while to adjust to the new concept behind the show and however despite the criticism I have read online, I still find myself hooked on watching the series.

Hair Care Products

With an important wedding coming up and me having ombre hair, I felt I needed to do some research into what I could do to take care of my hair better. Not just for the wedding but for general every day life. This is quite an unusual thing for me, as I am not really into beauty and hair products so it is a new area I wanted to explore.

Seven Seas, Seven Swims, One Reason!

Hey everyone,

Today's blog is a little different to usual, but I think it is important to experiment with content. I want to try out new idea's on my blog, to see what works and what doesn't. So today I wanted to write about something that I have not really thought about too much until I started watching this campaign that is currently going on across the world, shown and documented on YouTube and in newspapers over the world.

Ocean advocate and British endurance swimmer 'Lewis Pugh' is currently under taking 'Seven Swims', in seven sea's around the world. Today he will finish the seventh swim in London in the North Sea.

The reason he is doing this campaign is for 10% of the world’s seas - both around countries and on the high seas - to be declared marine protected areas by 2020 to safeguard fish and other wildlife.

“If we don’t do something about it, we’re going to be living in a world devoid of wonder and beauty, and frankly not sustainable. If we’ve achieved it on land, we can do it in the sea.”
'Lewis Pugh'

Lewis Pugh is very inspirational, he is another example of someone who is chasing after their dreams and doing what they love and what they want to do. Not only is he doing this but he is doing this for a good cause, something he believes in, something that we know needs to change. I think it is important to be an example to others, to do your own thing and do something to try and make a difference to raise the profile for environmental issues. Lewis has inspired me greatly with this campaign, to continue to do my own thing and continue believing and working hard.

(All photographs belong to Lewis Pugh & Kelvin Trautman)

I think the web series that has been created alongside the campaign, shows the dedication and passion of the team that are working on it and it elements the reason behind the seven swims. I think it beautifully shot and edited by film maker Ben Brown a former YouTuber, who's work is ever growing and always beautiful to watch!

I would advise you to check out the web series and learn more about Oceans and Conservation. You can watch the latest of the Swim's here!

'I.n.s.p.i.r.e' | Free E-Book Download!

Hey everyone,

Today I wanted to share with you guy's a project that I have been working on this month and this is my E-Book 'I.N.S.P.I.R.E'. I am super excited to share this blog post with you and to give you this keep sake. This FREE E-Book download is to say thank you, as I have now reached over 250 followers on my blog!

Living out your dreams or even just going through the ups and downs of life, can be quite hard especially when we are expected to constantly remain positive. As people we can sometimes feel lost and get overwhelmed with what we have to do and how far we still have to go. I know that I can be found in this situation and when I do, I like to find inspirational messages and this is often inspiring 'Quotes'. So I thought I would make a 'Daily Quote Book' for those times.

During my time as a media company owner and designer, other then previous university projects and lyric video's I haven't fully been able to experiment with typography. I think this is an important part of design and this part of design, can throw you. A lot of people including myself can overcomplicate design, but sometimes less is more and simple is the way to go. I have tried to show this in the design of my E-Book. I also tried to include a personal touch, as some of the quotes are my own!

I really enjoyed working on this project and creating another product, from a vision. I would really love to know what you guy's think! Thank you again for all the continued support and encouragement, from all my social networks. I hope this E-Book reminds you that we can achieve whatever we set our minds on, and if we lose focus, in those moments of doubt, we can open up this book and remind ourselves why, why we do what we do and that we can be successful!

My E-Book 'I.N.S.P.I.R.E' will also be available soon on both Ibook and Kindle. For now you can download it on ISSU here!

See you Thursday.

Throwback Thursday ATI!

Hey everyone,

Earlier this week I was asked by an old friend about what I had been up to since we last spoke, this lead me to talk about my story so far as a Media & Design Company Owner. Which left me inspired to write this Blog Post. So today, I want to throw it back to where it all began, with my project Aspire To Inspire.

If you are a frequent reader of my blog or if you follow me on my social media's, then you will know that I currently run a Web Series known as Aspire To Inspire which evolved and expanded from Issue 1 of the ATI Magazine. The Magazine was a one off niche magazine, set out to inspire our generation to chase their dreams. I am incredibly proud of how far I have come in the last six months and in particular how far this project has come. From a vision in my mind, to something you can watch and read, and I am excited about where I plan to take it next.

I think if you ever have a vision or an idea, that you believe in, it is important to always maintain that belief. There will be people that will not understand your project, or not believe in it, but if you do then others will eventually. I have been persistent and kept the faith in this project and I will continue to do so, because I believe that things like this help artists out there. People who want to do something with their lives, who want to follow their passions and goals and who want to make a positive impact in the world. I work hard to achieve what I achieve, and I love to do what I do. I think the concept and ethos behind a lot of my work can be seen as inspiring and that's cool, because I do want to inspire others.

I just wanted to take my time today to tell you all, that no matter how many people say 'No' or no matter how many people don't believe in what you do and your ideas, if you keep going, never give up and you work hard and you constantly believe in yourself, the rest will fall into place. That really and truly anything, anything can happen. So don't let anyone discourage what you want to do and the dreams that you have.

"Those who do not live out there own dreams will be hired to help someone live out theres''

I would also like to say Thank You, to all the artists that you have participated in the Web Series and Magazine so far - without you this project wouldn't be what it is!

I hope this project continues to grow from strength to strength inspiring others and sharing the talents that I know and love. I look forward to meeting more incredible individuals to work alongside and that inspire me. Before I sign out for today, I can now also announce that I am currently working on a second issue of this magazine  as well as some new and different video's. I also want to say, keep a look out for Saturday's Blog, as I have a feeling you will all love this one!

My Thoughts on TRXYE!

Hey everyone,

So today I want to share with you guy's my thoughts on the EP TRXYE, as well as share with you some of the video's I have been loving on YouTube at the moment and what I feel about YouTube becoming more 'mainstream' and more 'accepted'!

First of all, I am currently loving the debut EP TRYXE by Troye Sivan. Nineteen year-old music artist from Perth, Troye Sivan has just released his highly antipcated debut EP and it is already No.1 in over 55 countries. The EP has been on repeat since I got my copy! My favourite tracks being Gasoline and the lead single 'Happy Little Pill' which you can watch the official music video for below! Though I have my favourites, as you read my blog you know that I appreciate music and in particular the songwriting.

For me the whole EP is so beautifully written and sung. TRXYE is also very relatable to anyone, any sex, age, gender and I definitely recommend this EP as one to add to your playlist!

(Official Video to the tittle track 'Happy Little Pill' by Troy Sivan taken from the debut EP TRXYE') Comment below your fav's from the EP as I would love to hear them!

As well as Loving the EP TRXYE I also have been finding a lot of content on YouTube which I feel is worthy of sharing, as I enjoyed watching/listening to it. So the first video, I want to share is 'A Film For Ella' created by YouTube Channel 'JACKSGAP'.

I have watched this channel grow over the last couple of years, to something incredible, something  they should be incredibly proud of! From the series 'The Rickshaw Run' I have seen this Channel change, develop and grown. Jack and Finn have developed a mature, channel full of diverse content, steering away from the 'stereotyped Youtube Channel' and I think this growth can only be seen as good thing.

The reason I chose this video is because it is one of the cutest things I have watched in a long time. Something you can find yourself watching over and over again, and never get bored. Though not intended it does remind of a short romantic film, and I thought that you would enjoy it if you haven't seen it yet!

The next video I want to share with you is the music video for Jake Miller's single 'First Flight Home'.  Which is like movie, I have loved Jake's music for years now and I think that is because not only is he so talent, but his music is so incredibly positive, relatable and enjoyable.

I think his versatility and growth as an artist can really be seen in this track. I think the music video is incredible, I feel that it captures the heart of so many different situations as well as Jake's own personal story. I am excited to see what's next for Jake! I have also included 'The Making Of' which I really enjoyed, I love watching these types of video's and hope to one day film and edit one of these for my own Channel and to work closer with the musicians that I work with at the moment to produce something like this.

The last video that I want to share with you is this short film 'Two Strangers In A Bed' by Charlie Mcdonald. This film for me, was one of the best short films I think I've seen on YouTube so far, I was very impressed. I think I felt it had a unique originality and it was something different to anything I have seen before.

From the script, to the actors, to the shots, to the final edit. I just thought it was a brilliant watch. I love how YouTube can be full of different diverse content, and it allows many creators to express, share and develop their talents. I think it is a forever growing medium for talent and creativity! So much so that YouTube/The Internet had a place at this years Teen Choice Awards earlier this month, with such winners as Tyler Oakley, 0ur 2nd Life and more. I think for the internet to be receiving recognition for such shows is incredibly inspiring and it shows the power that the Internet is having on the world in which we live in today.

See you Thursday.

Long Live Southbank! #PTE

Last month, it was brought to my attention that Southbank a well known popular area in London was at risk of destruction, particularly the 'Undercroft'. This has inspired me to write this blog post. I wanted to tell you a little about the history of SouthBank and express my opinion on the 'LLSB' campaign.

For those who do not know SouthBank's 'Undercroft' has been around for over forty years, providing space for generations of people. It has been said to have been a 'home' and a cultural 'hangout' spot for locals and a place that people from all over the world come to see. The 'LLSB' campaign started 10 months ago, when the public and community were given warning of the site being taken away, to be replaced with malls and restaurants. When visiting the Southbank I can clearly see that there are plenty of these already here. So I can understand why the community and everyone is getting behind this campaign.

As a lover of design, art, and originality. I love Urban Culture and I truly believe that it doesn't seem fair, to knock down something so original and home grown, something that you cannot replace.

Aspire To Inspire Update | August 2014!

Hey everyone,

So as you may or may not know I have been busy filming and editing video's for my Web Series 'Aspire To Inspire' this time around for the #summersessions. I am excited to announce that the series is now BACK and better then before!

I previously had taken some time out from the series to concentrate on becoming a Web Designer, learning new skills, techniques and programmes to expand my knowledge and further my career as a media company owner. With this being said, I have been excited to get back out there and start searching for new talent to share with you on ATI.

The first video of the series is with the talented Mila Falls, which came out yesterday. The response so far has been really positive and I am really excited to share this video with you as it is different to anything else I have done before.

Here are some behind the scenes photo's from filming with artists.
