Monthly Favourites | May

Hey everyone,

So today I am going to share with you some of my 'May' favourites. If you watch YouTube like me then you would of perhaps seen the tag 'Monthly Favourites' going around. I decided to turn this video tag into a blog idea because I felt it was a nice way to collectively round up the month and let you guys know what I am loving!

Apps
Apps, well where do I start. This month, I have been exploring different apps and often see people wanting to know what other people have on their phones. So I thought I'd incorporate this into my blog. The first and main app I have been loving this month is 'Spotify' - Spotify is a commercial streaming of music, it allows you to listen to all your favourite songs for FREE - It's great! I personally find this a great App to explore new music and I for one love finding new songs and artists that I haven't yet discovered. I also love that it has playlists for all types of situations and moods, to suit you.

Other apps I am currently loving is the usual Instagram etc, but right now 'Notes' is another favourite. I have been loving 'Notes' for ages but only just noticed that 'Notes' are automatically connected to my Macbook so I can write all my idea's into my phone and they will be transferred to my Mac - handy for those creatives out there, who are on the go!

Music
Next I want to share with you some song's that I personally have been loving this month, starting with Ed Sheeran. I have been a fan of Ed Sheeran from the very early day's in his career when he first made an appearance on SBTV. So to finally hear some new music from him this month, was pretty exciting! I have also been loving artists such as Austin Mahone, Sam Smith, Katy B and Max Milner.

Track-List

1) Sam Smith - Money On My Mind
2) Austin Mahone - All I Ever Need
3) Ed Sheeran - Don't
4) Ed Sheeran - Take Me Back
5) Katy B - Crying For No Reason
6) Kirk Franklin - I Smile
7) The Vamps - Another World
8) The Vamps - Somebody
9) Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On
10) Avicil - Hey Brother

Fashion
Fashion, well for the majority of this year I have been loving my graphic tee's and anything black and white. Though this seems to be an occurring theme throughout my wardrobe of 2014 so far, but now I am now loving anything 'Red'. So after watching Kieszas's Hideaway video and seeing a few instagram posts, I became obsessed with these 'Red' trainers and knew I needed to get a pair.

So the other day when I was out shopping, I brought myself some Red Hightop's and if you read my last fashion post you would know that as well as high tops, I do love my Snapbacks and finding new brands. One of the brands I really like at the moment is 'Young and Reckless' so I brought myself a Red Bandana Y&R Snapback to go with my Hightop's.

Other Clothing Brands to look out for are that I really like right now are USH Clothing, Who Clothing and Ginge London
I hope you enjoyed reading this post, I certainly enjoyed writing it!

Let me know what you have been loving this month and leave it in the comments below.

See you on Thursday.

Career Update!

Hey everyone,

Today I am going to share with you an update on my career. I have been meaning to do this for a while now and this seemed like a good opportunity to do so. When you are looking at careers, I think it is important to love and enjoy what you do and that's what makes my job so great! Firstly I wanted to share with you a Logo Design that I have been working on this week for a web series called 'Concealed'.

The concept behind the branding of 'Concealed' is a web series about concealing your faith. The lips symbolise the idea of being 'zipped shut' to conceal this. I am in negotiations  to continue to work on this project so stay tuned for that!

Secondly I wanted to share with you guy's my latest "VEVO" style Lyric Video. I did this video earlier this month for artist Jordan Morris. Having previously worked on Jordan's first single 'Taking Your Side' I was excited to take on this project. For this video I decided to approach it with a few different techniques on Adobe After Effects. I have used a lot more picture elements and imagery then any previous Lyric Video and I think this adds to the uniqueness of this video.

If you like the song then please head over to I-tunes and support Jordan Morris by purchasing a copy. I have quite a few plans and idea's for my blog in the coming month so I am excited to continue to build and grow my business and blog.

Guest Post | Summer Fashion 2014

Hey everyone,

Before I get started with today's blog I would just like to say 'Thank you' to everyone who took part in my first ever blog competition. It was a lot of fun and I was overwhelmed with the amount of people that took part in the #mikehoughgiveaway. I will definitely be doing more give away's and competitions throughout the year.

Today I bring to you another Fashion Guest Post, so if you are looking for some tips for this Summer then read ahead!

Get Your Legs Summer Ready

Spring’s a strange time of year. One minute you’re freezing at the bus stop in a cold torrential downpour, the next you’re sweltering in the heat, feeling envious of all the people walking past you in their shorts and strappy tops. And of course you can’t join them yet, because your pasty, hairy winter body is in no state to be unleashed on the world.

Well, even though it’s a bit early to think about being bikini-ready, it’s definitely time to think about your legs, so that next time the sun decides to give us a bit of warmth, you’ll be ready and waiting for it. After all, it’s never too early to start cultivating that summer tan!

Srub-A-Dub-Dub!

You may not have time to visit a beauty salon. Let’s face it, you may not even have time for a nice long soak in the bath. But if you buy yourself a good body scrub and stick it in the shower, you’ll have smooth, silky pins in seconds. There’s no need to pay salon prices either – you can get some fab budget scrubs in the supermarkets, and even sensitive skin types can afford to be a bit less choosy about what they use on their legs.

Lose The Hair

It’s a rare woman who doesn’t let her dilapidation routine lapse a bit over the winter. After all who’s got time to go and have their legs waxed when they could be at home drinking hot chocolate on the sofa in a pair of cosy lounge pants? But it’s no good if the first time you want to give your legs an airing, you have to get rid of the small forest growing on them. If waxing’s your thing, go and get it done, otherwise get back into the habit of shaving – it’ll be worth it to know you’re ready to go as soon as the sun is!

Top Up Your Tan

If you’re suffering from pasty leg, then now’s the time to get ahead of the game by kick starting your summer tanning routine. Nowadays, it doesn’t have to be a messy, smelly, expensive, time-consuming business that leaves you orange and fed up. Why not try a gradual build-up body lotion for a natural look?

Treat Your Tootsies

Manicures are lovely but the bliss of sitting in a massage chair while someone transforms your feet from trotters to sandal-ready things of beauty, is on another level altogether. So if you can find the money and the time for a pedicure, even once a year, this is the time to do it. If not, don’t worry – set aside an hour, lock the bathroom door and do it yourself.

So now your legs are good to go, it’s time to treat yourself to something to show them off in. George’s mini skirts are perfect for getting you in the mood for summer and flashing your pins (and if it’s cold they look great with tights too!).

Throwback Thursday!

Hey everyone,

If you have Instagram you will know that every Tuesday and Thursday there is a throwback tag. I have been inspired by this tag and thought I would turn this idea into a Blog Post.

Sometimes I just like to throw it back and look back at life and things from my child hood whether that be how technology or fashion has changed. Maybe sticking on my old MP3 player or iPod and listening to what I use to listen to. For me it is always fun to reminisce and look back at things. I find it interesting how quick things change and progress.

Today I am going to talk about one thing from my childhood, touching on the change in technology. When I was out the other day I discovered a game on the Iphone whereby you can play the 'Gameboy' on your Iphone, I was intrigued to say the least. So when I saw this I was inspired to blog about it and share it with others.

This was of particular interest to me because when I was a lot younger, I owned and still have a 'Gameboy Colour' which was a hand held console we use to play. Games ranged from Mario, Zelda, to Pokemon. My favourite has to be Bomber man as I use to like adventure games, working through levels to beat the bosses. In 1998 we didn't have all this high tech fancy apps and computer software to enjoy or constant internet access.

Let me know in the comments what you use to play when you were younger and what you like to look back on. Make sure you look out for Saturday's blog as I am doing my first 'Give Away'.

Get involved With LILCDESIGNS | Youth Media Agency

Hey everyone,

Today I want to explain a little bit more about my company 'Lilcdesigns', and how it could help promote you. I also want to tell you that 'Lilcdesigns' has been excepted onto the 'Youth Media Agency' website and featured in their monthly newsletter 'Fanzine'.
Features are great way to collaborate with other companies to promote yourself, and so I am really pleased to be working with the 'Youth Media Agency'.

I am twenty-one and I started my company 'LILCDESIGNS' around a year ago whilst I was still doing my foundation degree in Graphic Design. Once I completed my foundation degree, I felt I had built up enough clients to continue my company full time. I wanted to work for myself, so I decided to work as a freelance designer full time and pursue my dream of owning my own media company. Throughout the last month I have expanded my skills even further, as I constantly try to learn new programs and stay up to date with all the latest social media and technology. I can now provide Web, Media, Design and Motion skills to clients and artists who I work with.

I collaborate with 'USH' on the design and making of our clothing range USH Clothing. I also have my own projects which I run alongside my business which are my blog and my series 'Aspire To Inspire'. My project 'Aspire To Inspire' started as a one off niche magazine which has now evolved into a Web Series on my YouTube Channel. 'Aspire To Inspire' was set up to share talent and stories that I found inspiring and to inspire our generation to never give up on our dreams. I feel social media is powerful to our generation and the youth of today and therefore I thought the best expansion for this was to do a web series of my own showcasing inspiring young people.

I am all for helping other young people realise their goals and dreams. Collaborating on projects and uniting together is a way to do this. I would like to offer guest posting on my blog to young writers if I feel their content is suitable to my audience. As well as collaborating with clothing designs and product lines. I can also offer young aspiring musicians, designers, filmmakers, dancers, and creatives the opportunity to feature on my web series 'Aspire To Inspire'.

If this is something you would be interested in please get in touch on twitter or email me on
lilcdesigns@gmail.com and I will be happy to discuss this further!

Secondly, I wanted to say a big thank you to artist Luke Towler, I got to attend his first London headline gig last week. If you have been following my blog you would know that I have been working with Luke this month. Luke's first headline gig he was wearing my USH unity T-shirt you can get yours here! http://ushclothing.co.uk

Introducing Luke Towler | ATI

Hey everyone,

Over the last few years of working within the music industry, I have come across some extremely talented people, people I believe in, who have huge potential to become successful. Over the last few months I have been introduced to seventeen year old singer/songwriter Luke Towler. Born in Spain and living in Tenerife singer/songwriter Luke is currently working on building his fan base across the world, travelling to the UK a number of times this year already to perform at various events and support various artists.

Luke has previously supported the likes of Cody Simpson, Connor Harris, Luminites and also sang with artists such as Dappy and is now set to embark on his first headline show on Monday, as well as working with Jan Smith in America (Justin Bieber's Vocal Coach). The last time Luke was over I got to see him perform and interact with his fans, this time around I was lucky enough to grab an interview with the young star! Check it out below.

Like I said Luke has a headline show Monday so if anyone is free and loves good music then there is no better way to spend your bank holiday! Come down and check him out, you can purchase tickets on the door or cheaper online here. http://www.seetickets.com/event/youraudiouk-presents-luke-towler-live/st-pancras-old-church/786964

Career Update | New Website

Hey everyone,

If you do not follow me on twitter then you may not have seen that my brand new website is now live!

www.lilcdesigns.com
After six months of working on becoming better at what I do and honing my craft. I decided it was time to learn a new software programme 'Adobe Muse CC', to redesign and launch a brand new website from the ground up. The first and main reason for this was because I wanted to start getting into web design, and I knew that in doing this I would be able to provide my clients with a full package of branding for their business.

I decided to change my domain from lilcdesigns.org to lilcdesigns.com as I felt this was a better representation of me as a company and I wanted this to be shown in my URL. This website has been one of my learning curves - and I am proud of how it has turned out. I think this has opened my eyes to doing Web Design as a full time job.
There were a few problems that seemed not to be solvable with my lilcdesigns.org website the main problem was that it was not easily accessible on tablets and phones, so this made it hard for people to view on the go. I found this could have put of potential clients. I also felt it was very regimented in that every page had the same layout and for me that was something I felt restricted me in designing, and portraying my work in the best possible way. Also currently on trend at the moment is 'parralex scrolling' it is interactive and cool and I wanted it on my new website!

In regards to my Aspire To Inspire series there will be a new video out tomorrow, and I am planning a lot more for my YouTube Channel. I want to produce better content and grow a bigger audience on there, whether this be through more videos or new ideas.

I personally feel like this has been a great success in achieving what I wanted to do.
Thank you all so much for supporting me in what I do, I hope you like my new website. Let me know your thoughts, in the comments or send me a tweet - I would really appreciate feedback.

See you Saturday with a new video for Aspire To Inspire, to see it first subscribe to my YouTube Channel.
